Job summary

The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada in Toronto, ON is seeking a TD Public Programmes and Learning Fellow to develop and deliver diverse learning programmes online and in-person, aligning with the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 exhibitions. The role is a 1-year contract with a hybrid work arrangement.

The Fellow will lead learning workshops, Youth Council activities, and youth-led programmes, collaborating with educators and artists to create inclusive content that broadens MOCA’s reach.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of professional experience in the development, execution, and/or research of arts, learning, or public programmes with a strong community-engagement background.
• Knowledge of contemporary art practices.
• Experience working with the public, including children (4–14), youth (14–18), and families.
• Proven track record in developing and executing community-based partnerships and collaborations.
• Extensive experience in developing, supporting, or executing a diverse range of public programmes and learning opportunities.
• Ability to move tables, chairs and other equipment up to 30 lbs.
• Evening and weekend work availability.

Responsibilities

• Lead MOCA’s Youth Council, Creative Youth, by developing programme plans, conducting outreach, research, and delivering weekly sessions.
• Organize, produce, facilitate, and deliver select learning workshops and guided tours.
• Organize, produce, facilitate, and deliver select public programmes.
• Research, produce, and edit digital content for MOCA’s online platforms; photography skills are an asset.
• Perform administrative tasks including contract drafting, rental logistics, communications, and budgeting oversight.
• Assist with live events.
• Lead two semester-long sessions of MOCA’s Youth Council, Creative Youth, and oversee two youth-led programmes.
• Produce clear, organized, engaging learning workshops and public programmes tailored to MOCA’s audiences.

Reporting to the Curator of Public Programmes and Artistic Director, the TD Public Programmes and Learning Fellow will collaborate with the team to research, coordinate, and deliver diverse public and learning programmes online and in-person.

The Fellow will organize and lead learning workshops, TD Community Sunday programming, group sessions, and guided tours, aligning with the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 exhibition seasons. This role also includes leading MOCA’s Youth Council, Creative Youth, including recruiting and onboarding the council’s incumbents.

The Fellowship offers extensive opportunities to network with educators, artists, and cultural leaders, enhancing professional and creative growth. It also provides a chance to develop accessible and inclusive learning content related to and beyond MOCA’s exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading MOCA’s Youth Council, Creative Youth, by developing programme plans, conducting outreach and research, and delivering weekly sessions.
• Organizing, producing, facilitating, and delivering select learning workshops and guided tours, including but not limited to those for MOCA Family Weekends.
• Organizing, producing, facilitating, and delivering select public programmes.
• Researching, producing, and editing digital content, including PDFs, videos, and other materials as needed for MOCA’s online platforms; photography skills are an asset.
• Performing administrative tasks including, but not limited to, contract drafting, managing rental logistics, handling communications, and overseeing budgeting.
• Assisting with live events.
• Leading two semester-long sessions of MOCA’s Youth Council, Creative Youth, and overseeing the delivery of two youth-led programmes.
• Producing clear, organized, and engaging learning workshops and public programmes tailored to MOCA’s target audiences.
• Creating content within the frameworks, guidelines, and structures set by MOCA Toronto for various in-person and online platforms, including photography, writing, and editing.
• Establishing and nurturing both new and pre-existing community and programming relationships.
• Collaborating with the Learning Coordinator and Art Educators on educational programme development and delivery, including school tours, workshops, and programmes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Must-haves

• A minimum of three years of professional experience in the development, execution, and/or research of arts, learning, or public programmes, with a strong background in community engagement and inclusion.
• Knowledge of contemporary art practices.
• Demonstrated experience working with the public, including children (ages 4-14), youth (ages 14-18), and families.
• Proven track record in developing and executing community-based partnerships and collaborations.
• Extensive experience in developing, supporting, or executing a diverse range of public programmes and learning opportunities, such as performances, panel discussions/talks, community-based activations, site-specific events, and group visitations.
• Ability to move tables, chairs, and other equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Ability for evening and weekend work.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in Google Suite and related programmes, including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with online project management software, such as Asana, is beneficial.
