SummaryPwC's Employment Tax, Payroll & Rewards group assists domestic and non-domestic clients in understanding their Canadian employer tax considerations when doing business in Canada. We provide a comprehensive suite of services which includes consulting services on cross border employment, domestic payroll including taxability of benefits, province of employment considerations, and we have a payroll processing team that supports our clients’ needs in an outsourced payroll function. In addition, our Rewards team focuses on stock compensation and other methods of rewarding employees by providing consulting and plan structuring advice. PwC Canada’s Employment Tax, Payroll & Rewards group works closely with other network firms around the globe to bring best practices and leading insight to our clients.

Meaningful work you’ll be part of

As a Payroll Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners

Consult with clients on their employment tax, payroll compliance, and process queries

Support a team of junior resources in preparing outsourced payroll files, including detailed review of client-facing deliverables and providing coaching to junior staff on continuous improvement to file preparation and documentation

Take ownership of documentation, analyze engagement economics, draft final billing for Partner review, and deliver meaningful individual performance evaluations on a timely basis

Develop strong client relationships and identify potential opportunities to provide additional services

Contribute to the development of your own and your team’s technical acumen

Participate in recruiting activities and develop the capabilities of junior staff through reviewing work, training, and coaching for development and performance management

Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues

Seek opportunities to learn about how PwC works as a global network of firms while building an internal & external network

Follow risk management and compliance procedures

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

Experience in multi-provincial payroll rules and regulations, including exposure to Canadian payroll software’s (e.g. ADP, Ceridian / Dayforce, UKG, etc.)

Strong understanding of employment tax rules and regulations, payroll delivery, and tax

Strong knowledge in Canadian payroll landscape including the province of Quebec

Knowledge of and experience in global mobility payroll implications including shadow payroll, gross-ups, and tax equalizations considered an asset

Proficient with Microsoft Office

Passion for excellent client service

Excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude and an ability to work effectively on fixed timelines are desirable

Superior communication (oral or written) and interpersonal skills that allow you thrive in a team environment with project management skills and efficient at multitasking with a high attention to detail

When applying to a Quebec based opportunity, fluency in French is required. Outside of Quebec, fluency in French is a strong asset

PwC BC Region Pay Range Information

The salary range

  • for this position is $82,300.00 - $ 137,000.00 CAD, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual bonus payment. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon your skills, experience, qualifications and geographic location.
  • Please note that the salary range for this position is reflected for our British Columbia region. Given our national recruiting approach, we recruit (and may hire) in other regions and therefore the salary range may differ depending on the work location. PwC is committed to competitive compensation and sharing salary ranges in accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation as they arise.
