Job summary

BDO Canada seeks a Director for its National Tax Practice to lead the team and stay current on Canadian income tax developments affecting domestic clients. The role emphasizes client-focused content, external communications, and webinar leadership.

Ideal candidates bring a CPA or equivalent legal background, with a deep track record in written and oral communication of technical tax matters, and the ability to work independently within a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience working in Canadian Income Tax in public practice as a CPA or as a barrister or solicitor.
• Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course, a Masters of Tax or an LLB.
• Proven excellence in written communication of technical subject matter.
• Ability to read and interpret income tax legislation.
• Ability to prepare summaries of relevant income tax developments for different audiences – i.e tax professionals, tax compliance professionals and client audience.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail to ensure that the meaning of the legislation is properly reflected in communications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to be flexible to meet the demands of the role.

Responsibilities

• Keep current on Canadian income tax developments affecting domestic tax clients.
• Communicate developments to Tax Service Line, Tax Compliance Professionals, and externally.
• Develop content for and present to Tax Compliance Professionals.
• Organize and facilitate monthly webinars for the Tax Service Line.
• Review tools used in Tax Compliance for technical accuracy.
