Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in Canadian income tax in public practice.
  • CPA designation or barrister/solicitor credentials.
  • In-Depth Tax Course, a Masters of Tax or an LLB completed.
  • Excellence in written communication of technical tax subject matter.
  • Ability to read and interpret income tax legislation and summarize developments.
  • Excellent oral communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Stay current on Canadian income tax developments affecting domestic tax clients.
  • Communicate developments to Tax Service Line, Tax Compliance Professionals, and external clients.
  • Develop client-facing tax-centred articles for bdo.ca.
  • Provide regular external and weekly internal communications on income tax.
  • Organize and facilitate monthly webinars for the Tax Service Line.
  • Develop content and present to Tax Compliance Professionals.
  • Maintain current internal tax matters database.
  • Manage professional and administrative staff in support roles.
  • Review tools used in Tax Compliance for accuracy and relevance.
  • Serve as a firm reference for new tax developments.
  • Assist with development of tax compliance tools and external presentations.

Your Opportunity

Our National Tax Practice is looking for a Director to join their team. The successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:

  • Keeping current on Canadian income tax developments that primarily affect Domestic tax clients
  • Communicating these developments to the Tax Service Line and Tax Compliance Professionals, and externally
  • Primarily responsible ensuring there are tax-centred, client focused articles on bdo.ca
  • Regular external communication to clients/potential clients/about income tax developments
  • Weekly internal communication to both Tax Professionals and Tax Compliance Professionals
  • Organizing and facilitating monthly webinars for the Tax Service Line
  • Developing content for and presenting to Tax Compliance Professionals
  • Keeping database of technical matters current - internal
  • Managing both professional and administrative staff in support positions
  • Reviewing tools used in Tax Compliance for technical accuracy and for relevant content
  • Serving as a firm reference for information on new tax developments
  • Ad hoc work includes serving as a firm reference for information on new tax developments, reviewing presentation material for external presentations or conferences, assisting with development of tax compliance tools

Your Experience And Education
  • 10 years of experience working in Canadian Income Tax in public practice as a CPA or as a barrister or solicitor
  • Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course, a Masters of Tax or an LLB
  • Proven excellence in written communication of technical subject matter
  • Ability to read and interpret income tax legislation
  • Ability to prepare summaries of relevant income tax developments for different audiences – i.e tax professionals, tax compliance professionals and client audience
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to be flexible to meet the demands of the role
