What is the opportunity?

Act as a business analyst (BA) and subject matter expert (SME) on tax initiative projects covering regulations such as FATCA, US IRC Ch. 3/61, CDOT, OECD CRS, US IRC Section 871(m), QI/QDD, and Sections 305(c) and 302.

The CM Tax Operations team initially supported FATCA but now covers a broader range of tax regulations. The BA will analyze these regulations and the team's needs, document business requirements, and outline current and future process flows to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.

The BA will work closely with the Product Manager, Head of the CM Tax Operations team, and collaborate with other partners across Business Client Services to develop and enhance team capabilities.

What will you do?

  1. Perform data analysis using Excel and VBA macros.
  2. Create business process maps for existing and proposed processes, highlighting roles, responsibilities, controls, gaps, and solutions.
  3. Gather and document formal Business Requirements for ongoing development of in-house applications, in line with RBC project standards.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and process flows.
  5. Track and report project tasks and status updates to senior management.
  6. Participate in testing, creating and executing test cases.
  7. Develop business cases for new initiatives.
  8. Implement tactical initiatives as needed based on business priorities.

What you need to succeed?

  • 1-2 years of Business Analyst experience, preferably in financial regulation or tax projects, with an undergraduate degree.
  • Proficiency in Excel VBA macros.
  • Experience leading Business Analyst efforts on projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and control awareness skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of business process modeling tools like Visio.
  • Excellent team collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to propose solutions aligned with business and client needs.
  • Positive attitude towards challenges and routine tasks.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of FATCA/CRS and tax regulations.
  • Understanding of tax operations in a capital markets environment and experience in securities/financial operations.
