Job description

Amazon is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Tax Controversy Team as a Canadian corporate tax specialist to manage direct tax audits. The Tax Controversy Team is directly responsible for tax authority interactions and other audits in various tax jurisdictions. The Tax Controversy Team is looking for candidates who have extensive experience with navigating tax authority requests with respect to Canadian corporate income tax law and can operating a dynamic environment. The candidate will be expected to roll up their sleeves to deliver accurate results on multiple projects with competing deadlines. This role will require interacting with other members of the Amazon tax team to handle various tax issues including transfer pricing, international tax issues, mergers and acquisitions, and tax compliance.



Key job responsibilities
- Manage the preparation of responses to information requests from tax authorities
- Develop and deliver presentations on tax matters to various stakeholders
- Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external advisors
- Research and document tax issues from a controversy perspective
- Implement and enhance organizational processes for continuous improvement

A day in the life
You'll engage with various stakeholders to coordinate responses to tax authority inquiries, collaborate with subject matter experts, and contribute to process improvements. Your day might include preparing documentation for tax authorities, consulting with internal teams on complex tax matters, and participating in strategic planning sessions.

About the team
Our Americas Tax Controversy Team collaborates across borders to ensure tax compliance and manage audits throughout the Americas region. We foster a supportive environment where innovative thinking and collaborative problem-solving are encouraged. Based in either Vancouver, BC or Toronto, Ontario, you'll be part of a team that values continuous learning and professional growth.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- CPA, or Master's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries
- Experience with managing deliverables to the tax authorities in the context of Canadian corporate income tax audits with a focus on international cross boarder transactions.

The base salary for this position ranges from $89,200/year up to $149,000/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
