This position involves overseeing tax compliance and filings, managing deadlines, and assisting with various tax-related projects. Description Our client in the private equity industry is expanding and they are in need of a Tax Manager to facilitate with their growth. Suitable person must have solid tax compliance/training from public practice. Candidate who has worked with complicated tax structure/multi-entities environment will have an advantage.(Candidates with lighter experience can be considered for a Senior Tax Accountant role.)This core person will provide support to the team, both senior and junior team members.
Duties include but not limited to:
• Review (or prepare, when needs arise) various Canadian federal and provincial tax filings as well as supporting working papers for entities within the whole group of companies;
• Oversee tax filing due dates and manage tasks accordingly to ensure on-time filings;
• Research technical tax issues, when needs arise, and provide on-time, relevant findings and interpretations to other members of the Tax Department;
• Work with clients or their representatives to ensure accuracy and completeness of required tax information related to the pre-acquisition tax years of entities acquired by the company;
• Process correspondences and inquiries from tax authorities and assist with providing responses when needed;
• Supervise administrative tasks completed by staff, mainly in relation to filing of tax returns, recording of tax filings, and processing of statement of accounts and notice of assessment;
• Assistance to senior tax personnel on tax matters in connection with the reorganization of entities in the group of companies as the need arises;
• Assistance to senior tax personnel on tax matters in connection with potential and proposed acquisitions and newly acquired entities, as the need arises;
• Assistance to senior tax personnel on tax matters in connection with audits by taxation authorities of entities in the group of companies, as the need arises;
• Assistance with other tax projects, as the need arises.
