About this Job:

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance Oversight

Oversee the preparation and review of corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with CRA regulations.

Monitor filing deadlines and ensure all client obligations are met efficiently.

Review elections, disclosures, and compliance documents related to reorganizations, estate matters, and related-party transactions.

Manage the preparation and review of T3s, T5s, and other year-end filings.

Provide technical support on tax provisions and compliance-related accounting issues (e.g., tax reserve calculations).

Client & Planning Support

Provide proactive planning strategies on areas such as remuneration, estate matters, succession planning, and use of trusts.

Assist with CRA audits, objections, and voluntary disclosures when required.

Advise clients on implications of legislative changes and ensure they remain in compliance with evolving tax law.

Collaborate with assurance and advisory teams on client engagements requiring integrated support.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals (managers, seniors, and juniors), fostering a high-performance, client-focused culture.

Deliver regular technical training and ensure continued professional development within the tax group.

Oversee scheduling and workflow management across the compliance cycle.

Support recruitment and onboarding of new tax staff.

Practice Management

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Canadian income tax law and provide guidance on complex compliance issues.

Drive efficiency and consistency in processes through implementation of SOPs and automation tools.

Collaborate with firm leadership to improve internal systems, leverage technology, and enhance client experience.

Contribute to business development and cross-selling opportunities within the firm’s client base.

Skills - Must Have:

CPA designation in good standing

Completion of CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program

10+ years of progressive experience in public practice taxation

Expertise in Canadian personal, corporate, and trust taxation

Strong knowledge of CRA compliance requirements and deadlines

Experience reviewing complex tax returns and planning files

Ability to supervise and mentor a tax team

Proficiency with CCH TaxPrep and CaseWare
