Job summary

BDO Law is seeking a Lawyer to join the Tax Controversy & Dispute Resolution team in Montreal. The role involves handling complex tax disputes, influencing litigation strategy, and contributing to growth of one of Canada's leading tax practices.

You will liaise with clients and tax authorities, develop dispute strategies, and draft legal opinions and submissions. Bilingual English/French is required to support interactions in Quebec and across Canada.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience practicing tax law in a leading firm or professional services environment.
• Bilingual English/French is required for client interactions in Quebec and across Canada.
• LL.M. in Taxation and CPA In-Depth Tax Course are assets.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary contact between clients and tax authorities, guiding dispute resolution.
• Develop and execute dispute resolution strategies across audits, objections, appeals, and litigation.
• Conduct advanced legal research and draft opinions, submissions, and correspondence on complex tax matters.
• Assess engagements, prepare fee estimates, and manage budgets through to completion.
• Build relationships across BDO Canada's service lines to identify collaboration opportunities.
