Job summary

EY is seeking a Tax Litigation Senior Associate in Montreal, QC to lead and mentor junior lawyers through federal and provincial tax disputes. You will oversee notices of objection, draft representations, and manage court appeals, ensuring strategic outcomes for clients.

The role requires at least 5 years in income tax and sales tax litigation, and bilingual proficiency in French and English. You’ll join a meritocratic, inclusive firm with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in income tax, sales tax and other tax areas with a strong focus on tax litigation
• Proven track record in managing complex tax litigation cases and deep understanding of Canadian tax systems
• Member in good standing of the Law Society of your province of residence; bilingual in French and English

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor junior associates in responding to federal and provincial audits and advise on options to resolve tax disputes
• Prepare and oversee drafting of notices of objection and written representations to tax authorities
• Manage litigation efforts including court appeals, judicial reviews, and voluntary disclosures and other processes
• Provide expert legal opinions on tax consequences of transactions and post-transaction audits for tax efficacy and litigation risk
• Develop and implement client acquisition and relationship-management strategies to grow the practice
