Business Overview:

The Tax Analyst is a member of the Fund Treasurer’s Office and reports to the Director, Fund Tax. This role will assist all members of the fund tax team, especially the Fund Tax Managers, with responsibilities including the review of fund distributions, tax returns, fund administration along with other compliance requirements, and the support of special projects and key strategic initiatives of the organization.

What You Will Do:

Tax Compliance and Fund Administration

  • Assist with the review of monthly, quarterly, and annual distribution calculation
  • Review annual trust tax and information returns
  • Assist with the review of mutual fund corporation tax returns
  • Prepare miscellaneous tax forms including T3 trust account applications, certificate of residency, tax elections and other applicable tax forms
  • Assist with audits and correspondence with various tax authorities
  • Assist with correspondence with various foreign tax agents
  • Prepare foreign tax reclaim forms for various markets

Fund Tax Operations

  • Assist with the review of large trades and fund rebalancing activities
  • Prepare materiality analysis for corporate action reviews
  • Review fund facts for distribution related language
  • Maintain the distribution review tool
  • Work with internal technology team on fund tax related automation initiatives

Ad hoc Special Projects

  • Assist with non-routine projects and provide tax operation supports as they arise

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a tax related role.
  • Financial Services industry experience is an asset.
  • Bachelor degree with a focus in business (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce or Mathematics) or equivalent work experience.
  • Completion of or working towards a CPA or equivalent professional designation is preferred.
