Job summary

Henry Schein Canada, Inc. is seeking a Senior Corporate Tax Accountant to lead the quarterly income tax provision, annual compliance, and coordination with CRA and provincial audits, supporting multi-entity operations.

This role requires a CPA designation, experience in a publicly traded company, strong Excel skills, and a track record in internal controls and SOX. The position is based at our head office with hybrid work options in Canada.

Qualifications

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA; legacy CA designation preferred) with post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • Experience in a publicly traded company is required, with work in a large, complex corporate environment.
  • Strong hands-on corporate tax accounting experience, including income tax provisions, tax compliance, and tax audits.
  • Progressive accounting experience in a multi-entity, multi-division or multinational environment with solid financial reporting.
  • Experience in a strong internal control environment; SOX and public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, including advanced Excel, with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the quarterly corporate income tax provision process, including tax calculations, reconciliations, supporting schedules and related financial reporting.
  • Coordinate annual corporate income tax compliance, including tax returns, disclosures and schedules, with internal stakeholders and external tax advisors.
  • Support CRA and provincial/territorial tax audits and inquiries with accurate documentation and timely responses.
  • Lead full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for assigned subsidiaries and divisions (month-end close, GL, reconciliations).
  • Coordinate external and internal audits and maintain strong SOX, accounting and internal control compliance.
  • Partner with Canadian and U.S. Finance teams, auditors and advisors on process improvements and tax integration of subsidiaries.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA; legacy CA designation preferred) with post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a publicly traded company is required, along with experience working in a larger, complex corporate organization.
  • Strong hands-on corporate tax accounting experience, including income tax provisions, corporate tax compliance, tax-related financial reporting and tax audits.
  • Progressive accounting experience within a multi-entity, multi-division or multinational environment, with strong technical accounting and financial reporting capabilities.
  • Experience working within a strong internal control environment; SOX and public accounting experience are highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, technology and communication skills, including advanced Excel, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Compensation

The posted range for this position is $93,400 – $116,400, which is the expected salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role, in addition to an annual bonus. Many factors go into determining pay within the posted range including education, prior experience, training, skills, certifications, location/labour market, internal equity, etc
