Job summary

Harvest Recruitment is seeking a Tasting Room Supervisor located in Oliver, Canada. You will report to the Junior Tasting Room Manager and be responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences through education about wine in a fun atmosphere.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience in hospitality, a strong understanding of wine, and an ability to multi-task. This position offers a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the Okanagan wine region and culinary products.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a supervisory position, ideally in hospitality.
  • Knowledge of wine and culinary terms is beneficial.
  • Ability to maintain high standards in fast-paced environments.

  • Ensure high standards of service and operations.
  • Educate guests about wine in an engaging manner.

Job Description

Reporting to the Junior Tasting Room Manager, the Tasting Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, creating and delivering a memorable guest experience before, during, and after their arrival at the Estate, executing the Tasting Room Mission by educating our guests about wine in a fun atmosphere.

What you will own & improve
  • Advanced knowledge of reservation systems, specific understanding of phone etiquette and demeanor and an understanding of floor operations and flow.
  • Upholding the standards of service set out by the Management Team and delivering with an attention to detail.
  • Creating memorable experiences for our guests by providing service, interaction, and education above expectations.
  • Expanding your knowledge of wine by delivering experiences at different levels of luxury.
Qualifications
What you already know
  • Previous experience in leading teams or held a supervisory position that included the responsibility of opening and/or closing day-to-day business, ideally in hospitality.
  • WSET level 1 or above or equivalent certification is an asset but not required if you have a background in the wine industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of food and wine, with an understanding of common culinary and wine terms and verbiage.
  • A capacity to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment whilst still maintaining a consistently high level of standards.

  • Fostering and maintaining a guest‑first approach to hospitality. Embracing a brand culture that fosters empowerment and decision making to create and maintain positive guest experience.
  • Advanced wine and culinary product knowledge, specifically regarding the life cycle of a winery (grape growing, harvesting, wine production and wine sales) and the seasonal changes of a tasting room.
  • Learning in depth about the Okanagan wine region by understanding how terroir and microclimates affect the final taste, quality and price of wines.
