We are a locally owned and operated company in Kenora ON, with locations in Warroad MN, and Winnipeg MB, helping us close the loop around our communities on Lake of the Woods! Lake of the Woods Brewing Company is Ontario’s Northernmost brewery and is committed to sustainable practices, business growth and development, and building external and internal alliances to support local, fresh, and handcrafted goods and services. Lake of the Woods Brewing Company’s flagship location is in a repurposed, historic fire hall in downtown Kenora on the northern shores of Lake of the Woods with a Taproom & Eatery, Retail Store, Online Shop, and Commercial Sales – all under one roof. We are Minnesota’s northernmost brewery located in Warroad on the shore of Lake of the Woods! Our most recent addition is our unique microbrewery and tasting room in downtown Winnipeg, located in Hargrave St Market in True North Square. We are young and we are growing!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Wage starts at $17.20 to $24.00/hr (based on experience). Flexible hours and weekend availability needed. Duties listed below are the minimum requirements, other tasks may be asked of you. Reports to the President/CEO

The primary focus of this position is managing the day-to-day operations of the brewery taproom and providing support to the retail store. This position is fast-paced, extremely engaging, and very social in nature. The successful candidate should be outgoing, have strong leadership and organizational skills to efficiently lead a growing team.

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS:

  • Must love craft beer! With the knowledge and passion to discuss our beers with guests.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and build relationships with customers and corporate clients.
  • Weekly scheduling of staff; creating and managing weekly task(s) list for employees.
  • Interfacing with logistics for ordering store supplies.
  • Responsible body on-site, flexibility of work hours.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with staff.
  • Supervise the daily operations of Taproom and provide support to the retail store.
  • Staff education exercises (beer tasting, brewery visit, programming).
  • Daily Cash Out reports – provided to Finance Controller.
  • Execute staff training procedures, assist in hiring for location, and incentivize staff for a fun, dynamic work environment.
  • Site cleanliness and enforcement of health and safety.
  • Inventory Management and reconciliation – daily reports.
  • Assist the Marketing department with social media.
  • Assist Event and Community Development manager with events and initiatives.
  • Assist Food and Beverage Manager with food special.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE JOB:

  • Minimum of 2 years Managerial and/or supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years restaurant serving or bartending experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail environment would be considered an asset.
  • Passion for all things craft beer – previous industry experience would be considered an asset (ie. Beer Advocate/Liquor Rep).
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly (GiveX, Quickbooks, Ekos)
  • High energy individual with exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Smart Serve Certified.
  • Ability to work alone independently and in a team environment.
