Servicing a regional catchment area of 112,000 people, this progressive city of 51,553 residents is nestled between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake and is conveniently located just three and a half hours from major Ontario centers such as Toronto and Ottawa.

Applications are invited for a Tandem Snowplow Operator in the Roads Department. Reporting to the Roads Supervisor, operates snowplow trucks, completes circle checks, performs minor equipment maintenance and adjustments and also completes reports.

At the end of winter control, reverts to summer construction part-time pool and must have the ability to perform seasonal Utility Tractor Operator duties when required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent acceptable experience.
• Must have a minimum of one year experience in operation of a single operator truck over 18,000 GVW with a combination plow with wing and sanding unit.
• Must hold a valid Ontario class “D” driver’s license with a “Z” endorsement.
• Must have a good driving record.
• Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the operation of a snowplow truck.
• Applicants will be subject to vehicle operations testing.
  
  

Hours of Work: On call as required

Environment: Unionized

Rate of Pay: $29.45 per hour (Tandem Sander/Plow Operator additional $.35 per hour)

The incumbent must also have the ability to perform seasonal summer construction duties when required and possess the following criteria:

• Six (6) months experience in the operation of utility tractor.
• Demonstrated ability in the operation of a skid steer, utility tractor and sidewalk plow.
• Must be able to take instructions and carry them out without supervision.
