Position
CHEO Talent Services Officer — reports to Manager Talent Acquisition & Operations. This is a generalist role within the Human Resources department that handles administration of HR processes from hire to termination, processes and audits employment documentation in HR/Payroll systems, provides information on benefits, leave entitlements, and working conditions, supports pension/benefit plan administration, and serves as the main point of contact for managers and employees regarding employment-related inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main resource to provide information and guidance on HR matters to managers and employees within the assigned client portfolio.
- Review and process all employment changes in the HRIS for multiple employee groups; request clarification and additional documentation as needed.
- Guide Managers on HR policies and procedures, and provide clarification on compensation, benefits, and leave entitlements per collective agreements and policies.
- Coordinate benefit and pension enrollments, changes, and terminations; provide information sessions for employees.
- Maintain leave records, monitor leave balances, and take action as required.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and collective agreements for all employee record transactions.
- Maintain integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of physical and electronic employee records; audit files as required.
- Liaise with benefits plan and pension plan administrators and the payroll department for various transactions.
- Perform administrative duties as required (e.g., creating employee ID badges, filing, letter preparation, mailing/courier documents).
- Support recruitment activities as required
- Identify and report HR system issues; participate in discussions to resolve them and in system testing as required.
- Collect and analyze HR data, prepare reports and documents, and make recommendations as required.
- Participate in HR processes, reviews, and support HR projects as required.
Qualifications
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) – Essential
- Diploma or university degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience (Essential)
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Human Resources field, preferably in a unionized environment (Essential)
- Strong understanding of HR functions and processes (Essential)
- Working knowledge of applicable laws and legislation (Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act) and general knowledge of policies and procedures related to health and safety (Essential)
- Ability to work with and manipulate data (Essential)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment (Essential)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; pleasant, tactful with the public (Essential)
- Initiative, customer service, and teamwork skills (Essential)
- Proficiency in MS Office and general knowledge of payroll/HR information systems (Essential)
- Bilingualism (English/French) – Preferred
