About the workplace

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will partner with our hiring managers to understand and plan for the recruitment needs of our largest client group, Member Services. You will develop a sourcing and attraction plan and manage the complete recruitment cycle to support hiring managers and candidates through the recruitment journey. You are the subject matter expert and collaborate with the workforce planning and regional leadership teams to proactively understand existing and future hiring needs, to deliver the right talent at the right time.

You are a brand ambassador for Vancity and its inclusive and anti-racist recruitment practices. You actively support our goal of building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. You promote the Vancity employer brand by building and maintaining strong partnerships with our external diversity and indigenous partners and manage our special evergreen programs.

This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role will require you to work on-site at least once a week.

A typical day would involve:

  • Partner with all internal teams to proactively understand and plan for recruitment needs, including business leaders, workforce planning teams and HR Consultants.
  • Lead high volume, high profile recruitment projects for Member Services teams.
  • Develop and incorporate an effective recruitment plan to fulfill assigned client group hiring needs.
  • Produce and update marketable job postings to attract the right talent for the roles.
  • Promote positions on the company’s website, social media channels, and relevant job boards.
  • Actively seek new ways to proactively attract and pipeline candidates for current and future hiring needs.
  • Perform full prescreens, interviews and evaluate the candidates’ skills, knowledge, and experience to recommend the right candidates for consideration.
  • Create exceptional internal and external candidate experience and support candidates through the recruitment hiring and selection process.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple recruitment projects and provide timely updates to clients and candidates as required.
  • Proactively anticipate problems and concerns, and provide well thought-out solutions and recommendations, independently or collaboratively as required.
  • Appropriately escalate concerns to the Manager, Talent Acquisition as required.
  • Provide coaching and advice to managers throughout the recruitment & selection process, including: sourcing options, interviewing, offer negotiations, overall interpretation of related policies & procedures.
  • Proactively leverage market trends and internal talent data (e.g. attrition rates, etc.) to inform talent decisions and provide talent related advice to clients.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize tools, systems to enable the efficiency and effectiveness of talent acquisition.
  • Resolve problems and provide direction to managers on recruitment related matters concerning internal and external candidates.
  • Be proactive in own learning of Special Programs to deliver on our BC Special Programs hiring commitments.
  • Coach hiring managers on DEIR hiring practices and requirements to prioritize special program candidates.
  • Promote special programs to support Indigenous, trans and black evergreen hiring program through community groups, career fairs and job boards.
  • Build partnerships with community groups, with high awareness of challenges and sensitivities to support diverse talent.
  • Proactively build and maintain candidate talent pool to identify talent for job opportunities through activities such as attending events and LinkedIn sourcing.
  • Track DEIR hiring metrics to measure and improve growth of diverse talent at Vancity.
  • Raise awareness about the special programs initiatives across the organization.

You have:

  • Three to five years of recent work experience in talent acquisition, in-house, agency or a combination of both.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Human Resources or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-volume, high-profile recruitment projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrated expertise in candidate management.
  • Proven ability to create relationships to support and coach leaders about hiring best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good level of business acumen and decision-making.
  • Previous experience with leading recruitment projects for senior level roles.
  • Extensive understanding of HR databases, applicant tracking systems, and candidate management systems.
  • Active user of LinkedIn recruiter, building recruitment projects and candidate pipelines.
  • Positive self-awareness and openness to learn.
  • Work experience in coaching hiring managers about inclusive hiring practices.

  • Effective and empathetic communicator – you have exceptional communication and listening skills to act as a resource for your specialized area, provide advice and coaching.
  • Analytical – You utilize market trends, internal talent data, and recruitment tools to inform hiring strategies, optimize processes, and build strong talent pipelines.
  • Attuned to micro details while seeing the big picture - You understand the big picture objective and can dive deep into data and details to ensure quality and accuracy of deliverables are met.

The salary range for this role is $64,500 to $96,500 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
