Job summary

Shift Auto Group is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist in Canada to recruit across the organization, from entry to senior leadership. You will actively source candidates, build strong pipelines, and engage passive talent while partnering with managers to define what great looks like for each role.

You will network with communities, promote opportunities on social channels, and ensure a consistent, scalable approach to recruitment alongside senior leadership, shaping "The Shift Method" for

At Shift Auto Group, we are looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist who sees recruitment as more than posting a job ad and waiting for applications to roll in. We are looking for someone who enjoys networking, starting conversations, building relationships, and getting out there to find great people.

About the Role

You will recruit for positions across the organization, from entry-level roles to senior leadership. That means actively sourcing candidates, building relationships with people who may not be actively looking, and developing strong talent pipelines for the future.

What You'll Be Doing

Building and executing recruiting plans for open roles across the organization

Proactively sourcing and reaching out to strong candidates, including passive talent

Networking and building relationships with talent in our communities and industries

Building and maintaining talent pipelines for current and future opportunities

Promoting Shift Auto Group and career opportunities through job boards, social media, and other channels

Working closely with hiring managers to understand what great looks like for each role

Helping candidates understand not just the job, but the opportunity and culture behind it

Staying current on new recruiting tools, sourcing strategies, and creative ways to find great people

Representing Shift Auto Group at networking events, career fairs, and community opportunities

Building "The Shift Method." Beyond individual hires, you'll help us build a consistent, repeatable approach to how we recruit, evaluate, onboard, and retain people — working directly with our senior leadership team on what we're calling The Shift Method. The aim is a talent system that scales as the company grows, covering how we identify talent, recruit and evaluate candidates, bring people on board, and build career paths for the people already here.

• Partnering with our leaders. You'll work closely with managers across Shift to understand their hiring needs, write job descriptions that actually reflect the role, and build sourcing strategies for the positions that are hardest to fill. That includes giving regular updates on your pipeline and following up after hires to see what worked and what didn't.
• Building our future pipeline. You'll develop relationships with colleges, universities, and trade schools to create a steady pipeline of early-career talent, and keep candidate pools warm for roles we hire for regularly so we're not starting from zero each time. Where it makes sense, you'll also look into government programs or funding that support hiring.
• Understanding why people leave. Recruiting is only half the job — retention is the other half. You'll take part in exit interviews and offboarding, and look for patterns that can help us do better by the people who stay and the people we hire next.
• Supporting HR. You'll work closely with our Senior HR Coordinator and pitch in on other HR work as needed.

Previous recruiting or HR experience is a plus, but not required. We care more about drive, communication skills, and a good instinct for people.
