Job summary

Government of Alberta, based in Edmonton, is seeking a Talent Acquisition Consultant to deliver full-cycle recruitment services and advise hiring managers. This temporary, term-based role supports open competition recruitment with PSC oversight, in a dynamic HR environment.

You will collaborate with hiring teams, shape recruitment strategies, and ensure high-quality outcomes for Albertans while building trusted partnerships across government.

Qualifications

  • Two-year diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related area plus one year of related experience.
  • Equivalencies accepted: 1-year certificate with 1-year experience; 1-year of education for 1-year of experience; or 1-year experience for 1-year education.
  • Preference given to applicants with 3+ years experience in talent acquisition or HR.
  • Assets include consultative support, building relationships, and providing strategic guidance to stakeholders.
  • Unionized or public-sector recruitment experience and experience supporting complex recruitment projects.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver full-cycle recruitment services aligned with APS policies and directives.
  • Provide consultative advice to hiring managers on recruitment strategies and process requirements.
  • Prepare inclusive job advertisements, screen applications, coordinate and support interviews, conduct reference checks, and support offers.
  • Balance multiple recruitment files while responding to shifting priorities.
  • Contribute to team collaboration and continuous improvement within Talent Acquisition.
  • Participate in projects that support PSC priorities.

This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies for temporary and permanent Talent Acquisition Consultant positions and/orfill future vacancies, across the Government of Alberta, at the same or lower classification level.

As a Talent Acquisition Consultant, you will:

  • Deliver full-cycle recruitment services in alignment with APS policies and directives.
  • Provide consultative advice to hiring managers on recruitment strategies, workforce considerations, and process requirements.
  • Prepare inclusive job advertisements, screen applications, coordinate and support interviews, conduct reference checks, and support offer processes.
  • Balance multiple recruitment files while responding to shifting priorities.
  • Contribute to team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives within Talent Acquisition.
  • Participate in projects and initiatives that support broader PSC priorities.

Qualifications

A two-year diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related area plus one year of related experience; or equivalent as stated below:

Equivalencies will be accepted on the basis of a related 1-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and 2-years of related experience.

Directly related education or experience considered based on 1-year of education for 1-year of experience; or 1-year of experience for 1-year of education

Preference will be given to applicants with 3+ years of experience in talent acquisition or human resources.

Assets include:

  • Experience providing consultative support, building strong relationships, and offering strategic guidance to stakeholders.
  • Unionized or public‑sector recruitment experience.
  • Experience supporting complex recruitment projects and high-volume hiring initiatives.

Position Terms: Temporary (various terms) with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Location: Downtown, Edmonton

Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day/36.25 hours per week

Successful candidates will be placed into a talent pool. Those who are being considered for a vacancy will be contacted and will progress to pre-employment checks; those who are not will be part of the talent pool for twelve months.

Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
