The Data Engineer will focus on application development and support in a Talend-based development environment. In a team-oriented atmosphere, the incumbent will work closely with the Technical Lead, Senior Data Engineers, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance Analysts in delivering solutions for our clients. The incumbent will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development, testing and implementation of ETL workflows and contribute to the overall Database Design. Development tools include but are not limited to Talend, Salesforce and various on-prem and cloud-based database technologies such as AWS (SQL) and Oracle.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with teammates to plan, design, develop, test, and support ETL workflows in Talend
  • Design and/or implement changes to existing Database Model
  • Design and implement stored procedures, functions and views to support the ETL workflows
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code
  • Package and support deployment of automated releases
  • Analyze and resolve technical and application problems
  • Provide Production Support and Release Support nights and weekends when required
  • Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties
  • Work with teammates to roll-out and maintain continuous integration practices
  • Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget
  • Develop and managebatch jobsusingAutosys,Control-M, or similar scheduling tools
  • Monitor and troubleshoot ETL jobs and data pipelines inLinux-based environments
  • Maintain documentation for ETL processes, data flows, and system configurations

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in Talend Data Integration, database design and development
  • Experience with Database Modeling design patterns in any Database platform
  • Proficient with SQL Server and/or Oracle Database Technologies
  • Experience with large Salesforce implementations – specifically Talend to Salesforce integration experience would be considered an asset
  • Familiar with Integrating Salesforce with other cloud-based application systems using REST, SOAP API
  • Experience with deployment processes and release pipelines. Ex: Jenkins, Bitbucket/Git
  • Experience using Jira for backlog management
  • Experience working in an Agile Team
  • Experience with business intelligence tools like Tableau, SAS, and Power BI considered an asset
  • Experience in hosted environments like Azure or AWS considered a strong asset
  • Experience integrating withSalesforce and Kafka.
  • Proficiency inLinux/Unixcommand-line tools and scripting (e.g., Bash, Shell).
  • Experience withjob scheduling toolslikeAutosys,Control-M, orCron.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate integration requirements to business users. Interaction with various business lines will be imperative for the success of the incumbent.
  • Talend certification(s) is a asset.
  • Understanding of Cloud Hosted environments and related technologies
  • Knowledge of various database modeling techniques including database theory, and a strong understanding of business data structures
