Purpose
Our Porcupine operations Project Department is now recruiting for the position of Tailings Construction Superintendent.Reporting directly to the Projects Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the tailings and seepage construction team and overseeing the safe execution to plan of all tailings and seepage construction related work.

Responsibilities

• Manage the tailings and seepage construction team.
• Prepare and manage contracts related to tailings and seepage construction.
• Prepare and update mid-term and long-term plans, schedules.
• Prepare and manage detailed forecast and budget costs.
• Accountable for the tailings and seepage collection construction of the in line with engineered plans, drawings, and specificationsin a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Liaise with stakeholders such as the client, engineers, EOR, site representatives, andcontractors/sub-contractors.
• Identify areas to increase project value and optimize resources.
• Directly engage the primary contractors that carry out the construction.
• Physically monitoring progress as compared to the construction schedule and provide regular status reports detailing progress of the project.
• Implement and facilitate monthly construction progress review meetings.
• Support other Tailings Construction project scopes as they arise.
• Completion of monthly job task observations in all areas of construction.
• Support and attend daily pre-start meetings.
• Ensure compliance to Discovery Porcupine’s standards, policies and procedures.

Training and Education

• Minimum 15 years of related experience in tailings construction and project execution, including supervisory experience.
• Team Management and Developmentexperience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Excel.
• Proficiency in following schedules/Gantt charts.
• Effective time management and organizational skills that will enable safe oversight of multiple construction fronts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of construction standards and regulations.
• Strong problem solving skills are an asset.
