Qualifications

Job description

Type of position: Regular

Your future role on our team

BBA is looking for a principal engineer to support the growth of the Soil and Infrastructure group. We’re looking for someone who can take on a technical role and participate in the civil design of mine tailings facilities, waste rock piles and various water management infrastructures. Additionally, you’ll be required to supervise a project team. This position is ideal for those who are interested in a variety of technical and management tasks.

  • Design mine tailings management systems using conventional or innovative technologies for tailings, waste rock and water management infrastructures, including dams, dikes and earthworks
  • Participate in the civil, geotechnical and hydrotechnical design of tailings facilities
  • Manage and execute projects, including quality control, and time and budget management
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, and work with other professionals to deliver projects
  • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and cost estimates
  • Work on business development with new and existing clients
  • Participate in developing a business plan for mine waste management services
  • Prepare and revise construction and work supervision documents for various designed infrastructures

Summary of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Mining or Civil Engineering, or equivalent
  • Possess the title of engineer and be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • At least 10 years of engineering work experience
  • Experience in a consulting firm in the mining sector
  • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships
  • Solid communication and soft skills
  • Management and leadership skills
  • Vast experience in project management
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written (English and French)
