As a Tactical Healthcare Security Officer at Valley Regional Hospital, you'll be on the front lines of healthcare safety, working closely with emergency staff and local law enforcement to ensure a secure and compassionate environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as a visible presence within the Emergency Department
  • Respond to coded emergencies and use verbal de-escalation techniques
  • Assist with security planning for high-risk patients and patient restraints as needed
  • Support hospital staff and maintain site-wide safety
  • Conduct ID checks, monitor site access, and patrol the premises
  • Write detailed incident reports and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and EMS
  • Provide support for patient watch guards
  • Must be in Kentville, Nova Scotia
  • 1–2 years of experience in security or law enforcement
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C with AED certification
  • Ability to obtain a Nova Scotia Security License
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and MOAB, or willingness to complete Paladin's training (covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment)
  • Physical fitness and ability to stand or walk for 3–4-hour periods
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
