Job summary

School District 71 (Comox Valley) seeks a temporary 0.20 FTE Online Learning Modern Languages: German 10 Teacher to support online and blended instruction using Brightspace and Rosetta Stone. The role involves designing online language courses for the secondary level and delivering instruction online and on-site.

Qualifications

• Fluency in German (oral, written, cultural) at master level.
• Experience designing/teaching modern languages online at the secondary level.
• Ability to teach online and face-to-face, with blended instruction.

Responsibilities

• Deliver online German instruction to secondary students.
• Design online language curricula using Brightspace and Rosetta Stone.
• Support assessment for learning and document progress for students, parents and educators.
• Provide tutorial support online and in person; adapt courses for IEPs.

• 0.20 FTE Online Learning Modern Languages: German 10 Teacher

NIDES teachers guide successful learning by providing personalized, online learning courses using diverse instructional technology. NIDES teachers commit to working online and face-to-face with students, colleagues, and parents. Teachers actively research, develop, and maintain advanced online curriculum and support blended instruction in classrooms, learning centers, and through tutorials. They teach students province wide & work on-site at a Comox Valley School.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Training, certification and/or direct experience teaching in an online learning (OL) environment
• Oral, written and cultural fluency (mastery level) in German
• Experience, training and education related to the design and instruction of modern languages within an online learning environment at the secondary school level
• Experience working with the delivery of modern languages through Rosetta Stone and Brightspace
• Advanced skills in maintaining an online classroom in a learning management system

• Advanced skills in supporting assessment for learning (AFL) assessment practices and documentation for students, parents, and educators
• Experience developing and implementing online learning platforms within the modern languages portfolio (Brightspace, Zoom, Teams) to enhance student learning
• Ability to work with and provide tutorial support for students online and in person
• Ability to support students with course adaptations and I.E.P.s
