Comox Valley Schools - School District 71 is seeking a 0.50 FTE Online Learning Earth Science 11 & Math 12 Teacher to deliver online courses and provide in-person support at a Comox Valley School. The role emphasizes equity, adaptability, and student-centered learning.

The successful candidate will design and deliver online curricula, support AFL and IEPs, and collaborate with families, colleagues, and leaders to foster diverse, inclusive lifelong learners across the province.

Formación

• Experience teaching in an online learning environment at the secondary school level.
• Experience designing and delivering earth science/physics content in online settings.
• Experience teaching adult learners in online environments.
• Strong skills in maintaining an online classroom and documenting assessment for learning (AFL).

Responsabilidades

• Teach Earth Science 11 and Math 12 online with blended in-person support.
• Develop and maintain online curriculum and resources for provincial delivery.
• Support AFL practices and document progress for students, parents, and educators.

Job Opening

• 0.50 FTE Online Learning Earth Science 11 & Math 12 Teacher
• This assignment will end June 30, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent.

NIDES teachers guide successful learning by providing personalized, online learning courses using diverse instructional technology. NIDES teachers commit to working online and face-to-face with students, colleagues, and parents. Teachers actively research, develop, and maintain advanced online curriculum and support blended instruction in classrooms, learning centers, and through tutorials. They teach students province wide & work on-site at a Comox Valley School.

Candidate Qualities

• Training, certification and/or direct experience teaching in an online learning (OL) environment
• Experience, training and education related to the design and instruction of earth science and physics within an online learning environment at the secondary school level
• Experience, training, and education in adult education
• Experience teaching earth science and physics to adult learners in an adult education environment
• Advanced skills in maintaining an online classroom in a learning management system
• Advanced skills in supporting assessment for learning (AFL) assessment practices and documentation for students, parents, and educators
• Experience developing and implementing online learning platforms within the modern languages portfolio (Brightspace, Zoom, Teams) to enhance student learning
• Ability to work with and provide tutorial support for students online and in person
• Ability to support students with course adaptations and I.E.P.s
