Job summary

School District 71 (Comox Valley) is seeking a temporary Electronics 11/12, Engineering 11/12, Electronics 9/10 teacher for a 1.0 FTE position. The incumbent may end on June 30, 2027 or earlier if they return.

The ideal candidate brings robotics/technology education expertise, a strong safety leadership mindset, and a commitment to inclusive teaching and student success. BC teaching eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• BC Teaching Certification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment.
• Instruct students in the safe operation of tools, equipment, machinery, and electronics.
• Provide safety training, demonstrations, and supervision before students operate equipment.
• Promote a culture of safety through risk assessment and safe work practices.
• Support extracurricular STEM activities, robotics competitions, and community partnerships.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners to enhance student learning opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Robotics, Engineering, Electronics, Technology Education, or a related field.
• Commitment to inclusive educational practices and student success.
• BC Teaching Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Technology Education or Red Seal Certification in a relevant trade.
• Certificate in Shop Machinery Safety or equivalent safety training.

The Successful Candidate Will Have Demonstrate

• Ability to develop and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to instruct students in the safe operation of tools, equipment, machinery, and electronics.
• Ability to provide appropriate safety training, demonstrations, and supervision are provided before students operate equipment independently.
• Ability to promote a culture of safety through risk assessment, safe work practices, hazard awareness, and proper use of safety equipment and machine guards. • Experience to support extracurricular STEM activities, robotics competitions, and community partnerships.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners to enhance student learning opportunities.
