Job summary

School District 71 (Comox Valley) is seeking a temporary Electronics 11/12, Engineering 11/12, and Electronic & Robotics 9/10 Teacher. The role ends June 30, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent.

The successful candidate will foster an inclusive, safe learning environment and deliver technology education with strong safety leadership. Requirements include BC Teaching Certification and demonstrated experience in robotics, electronics or related fields.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in robotics, engineering, electronics or tech education.
• Commitment to inclusive educational practices and student success.
• BC teaching certification.
• Bachelor of Technology Education or Red Seal in a relevant trade.
• Certificate in shop machinery safety or equivalent safety training.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment.
• Instruct students in the safe operation of tools, equipment, machinery and electronics.
• Provide safety training, demonstrations and supervision before equipment use.
• Promote safety through risk assessment and proper use of safety equipment.
• Support extracurricular STEM activities, robotics competitions and partnerships.
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners to enhance learning opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Robotics, Engineering, Electronics, Technology Education, or a related field.
• Commitment to inclusive educational practices and student success.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Technology Education or Red Seal Certification in a relevant trade.
• Certificate in Shop Machinery Safety or equivalent safety training.

The successful candidate will have demonstrate:

• Ability to develop and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to instruct students in the safe operation of tools, equipment, machinery, and electronics.
• Ability to provide appropriate safety training, demonstrations, and supervision are provided before students operate equipment independently.
• Ability to promote a culture of safety through risk assessment, safe work practices, hazard awareness, and proper use of safety equipment and machine guards. • Experience to support extracurricular STEM activities, robotics competitions, and community partnerships.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners to enhance student learning opportunities.
