General Stewart Elementary School - Grade 5 Teacher

FTE: 1.00 – Probationary

The expected start date is August 25, 2025.

The competition will remain open until June 30, 2025, at 10:00am.

The School

General Stewart serves approximately 100 students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 with one class at each grade level. The size of our school is also one of its biggest assets as it allows us to get to know each other very well and very quickly. Within our school, staff, students, parents and community members work together to support one another and provide the best possible education for our students.

Subjects

General Stewart Elementary School is looking for an enthusiastic teacher to join their team as a Grade 5 teacher at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year! The successful candidate will be a team player who is energetic, creative, flexible and possesses:

  • A strong understanding of balanced literacy practices and evidence that demonstrates these practices have been successfully implemented within the ELAL classroom;
  • A strong understanding of numeracy instructional practices and evidence that demonstrates these practices have been successfully implemented within the classroom;
  • The ability to collaborate, think critically and creatively;
  • The ability and willingness to respond to a diverse range of learners and a belief that with quality instruction and a supportive school environment, all students can experience success;
  • Previous experience teaching Elementary Music and/or Physical Education (considered an asset).
  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
