Please Note: Summer school programs are contingent upon student enrolment. If, on or around June 27, 2025, there are insufficient class numbers for this assignment the course will be cancelled, and the teaching contract will be rescinded. Teachers will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement
(Article B.29). By accepting this assignment, teachers do not receive experience or earn seniority or aggregate months of service towards conversions to a continuing contract (B status).

Required Abilities, Qualifications And Experience
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- successful experience in teaching prior Summer Learning courses
- demonstrated understanding of and the ability to implement the learning standards for ELL at the Grade 9-12 level
- elementary teaching experience in English Language Learners and English as a Second Dialect
- knowledge of current best practices in education of ELL/ESD students
- ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices in order to measure and monitor student progress effectively
- demonstrated understanding and ability to implement the learning outcomes based upon the Core Competencies
- training and successful experience in teaching students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
- provide regular reporting on student progress and demonstrate proven ability in involving parents as partners
- ability to work as part of a team
- demonstrated strong classroom management skills
- willingness to take a leadership role in the development of this program
