Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Halifax is seeking a systems engineering professional to support the Halifax Class Combat Systems Integration program. You will perform planning, integration, verification, validation, and lifecycle activities from requirements through deployment and field troubleshooting.

You will work with DOORS, test teams and multidisciplinary groups to ensure traceability, compliance and effective solutions within schedule and cost constraints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with five years of professional experience.
  • Experience in requirements definition, development and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS and strong traceability/impact analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex requirements into documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as day-to-day steward of the DOORS repository; create/modify requirement modules and enforce version control.
  • Capture linkages between requirements, design and test artifacts with full traceability.
  • Collaborate with test, engineering, software and quality teams to align DOORS workflows with release and compliance objectives.
  • Support design reviews, test planning and system integration activities.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

The candidate will support the Halifax Class Combat Systems Integration (CSI) In Service Support (ISS) program and will be called to work at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Stadacona in Halifax once the necessary security clearances have been granted by the Government of Canada (CANADA). They will function within a multi-disciplined team environment and perform engineering tasks spanning the complete life cycle of the systems from specification, design, development, integration & test, deployment, maintenance and field troubleshooting.

The candidate will participate in engineering activities including but not limited to:

  • Act as the day to day steward of the IBM Rational Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) repository: create and modify requirement modules, apply attribute sets, run query based reports, and enforce version control best practices
  • Capture the linkages between requirements, design, and test artifacts—maintaining full traceability from inception to product release
  • Work with test, engineering, software and quality teams to refine DOORS workflows and templates, ensuring alignment with global release & compliance objectives

Basic Qualifications
  • Possess bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with five years of professional experience
  • Experience in requirements definition/development/maintenance
  • Knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS
  • Relationship building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proven ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable documentation
  • Strong grasp of requirements engineering fundamentals (traceability, impact analysis, change control)
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Works well individually or in a team environment
  • Ability to acquire North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret Security clearance.
