System Engineer - Industrial Controls
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Provide industrial/commercial control systems engineering services for ISI customers, including SCADA Systems, PLC Programming, CAD Drawings, Industrial Networking, Systems Calibration, and other duties as assigned.
- Support Instrument Technicians in the field with issues related to interfacing field devices to DCS & SCADA systems, testing, and technical support.
- Collaborate with other System Engineers to resolve project backlog while maintaining excellent relationships with current contract customers.
- Support other projects within the local service area and throughout the ISI footprint as needed.
- Report job activity and maintain detailed logs of service calls, parts, and orders.
- Identify opportunities for upgrades at customer facilities.
- Travel to and from job sites using company vehicle, maintaining defensive driving habits.
Essential Mental Functions:
- Strong background in electrical/electronic engineering, process instrumentation, and process engineering.
- Self-motivated, self-driven, and capable of self-management.
- High energy, technically competent, resourceful, with extreme attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Visual Basic, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and understanding of networks and network structure.
- Basic familiarity with radio-based communications and protocols.
- Strong understanding of industrial controls, process controls, PID loops, pump control, instrument calibrations, and repairs.
- Knowledge of analog current loops and their conversion processes.
- Strong electrical knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code.
- Familiarity with required equipment such as hand tools, volt-ohm meters, power tools, and instrument loops.
Essential Physical Functions/Equipment Used:
- Ability to lift objects up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand, kneel, walk for long periods, climb ladders and stairs.
- Availability for occasional call-ins and overnight travel.
- Perform duties indoors and outdoors, exposed to weather, elements, equipment, and noise.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (BSEE/BSEET/ASEE) required; Master's Degree (MSEE/MSEET) strongly preferred.
- 1-3+ years' experience programming PLCs (Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, MOSCAD, etc.) required; process/flow control experience strongly desired.
- 1-3+ years' experience with computer-based HMI software (Wonderware, VTSCADA, Lookout, etc.) required.
- Strong computer proficiency required.
- Clean driving record required.
