Our Client, an American Provider of Industrial Automation and Digital Transformation Technologies, is looking for a Systems Design Engineer Level 3 for their Calgary, AL location.
Responsibilities:
- Directing and reviewing technical design and configuration, including drawing markups, control system program review (or changes), and customer witnessed functional testing of software and hardware.
- Supporting the Project Manager with analyzing customer requirements to determine the optimal process control system solution and selecting applicable control and safety system components. Updating the project manager on activity status, performance against schedule and budget.
- Providing on-site process control system start-up support as required.
Requirements:
- Oil & Gas industry experience, 5-15 years.
- At least 5 years of experience in control systems engineering related to industrial automation systems (BPCS, CCS, SIS, BMS).
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical design, including schematics and panel layout.
- At least 5 years programming PLC or DCS applications, with knowledge of basic and advanced process control (PID, Control sequence, Control narrative).
- At least 5 years programming HMI applications for local and networked distributed applications (Process, Alarms, Database, Faceplates, Monitoring).
- Availability and willingness to work overtime occasionally to meet project commitments.
- Occasional travel to customer sites, including industrial plants, ships, offshore platforms, etc.
- Experience with control system applications throughout the project lifecycle, from design to installation and client support.
- Knowledge of process control fundamentals, including control loops, loop tuning, instrumentation, control valves, and interpretation of P&ID diagrams.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure (Microsoft Server), virtualization (VMware, thin clients), and database setup (OSI-PI, SQL).
- Knowledge of client Logic Solvers (BPCS and/or Safety Systems) such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, GuardLogix, AAdvance, Trusted.
- Knowledge of industrial network design, configuration, and troubleshooting, including Stratix switches.
- Understanding of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 72, 85, 86, IEC61511, IEC 61508, API 14C, UL508A).
- Engineering degree or technical diploma in electrical, control systems, or computer/software studies.
