Summary:

The Systems Data Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions to support efficient data integration, processing, and visualization across systems. This role focuses on building reliable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and modeling data flows. The Systems Data Architect will support cross-departmental collaboration, streamline data communication, and contribute to automation and troubleshooting efforts.
This position will report to the Manager, Data Integration, and/or Senior Director of Estimating and Pre-Construction.

Location: Clearway’s Head Office – Maple, ON

Hours of Operations: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (EST)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of data solutions for data generation, collection, processing, and visualization.
  • Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines, ensure data quality, and implement ETL (extract, transform and load) processes to migrate and deploy data across systems.
  • Support the integration of data from disparate sources and systems, including databases, APIs, and files.
  • Model front-end and back-end data sources to help draw a more comprehensive picture of user flows throughout the system and to enable data analysis.
  • Conduct data troubleshooting by reviewing ingested data to flag issues and dive the investigation of any data quality issues.
  • Contribute to translating architecture or design into both logical and physical data models that comply with existing (and evolving) standards and practices.
  • Work across multiple departments to enhance data-communication.
  • Conduct thorough testing of new features to ensure applications meet quality standards and function as intended.
  • Automate existing and new processes that are required within the current team pipeline.
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code.

Requirements:

  • 1-3+ years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, or similar role.
  • An undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance or related field.
  • Experience performing complex business analysis, including data flow analysis and modeling.
  • Strong understanding of database and data management concepts.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (with a focus on MS Excel/VBA in a corporate context).
  • Experience with modern database technologies (e.g. MySQL, SQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with finances a plus.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, quick learner, strong problem-solving skills, troubleshooting, strong sense of ownership of the work.
  • An interest in the Construction Industry.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada – no work permit sponsorship is available for this position.
