The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess outstanding analytical skills with the drive to continuously assess and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the City's systems; have the innate ability to take initiative and prioritize multiple conflicting demands in a high pressure environment; and demonstrate support for team efforts by readily accepting new roles, responsibilities, and training opportunities. The Systems Analyst is assigned to one of the three divisions (Systems, Applications, or Operations) based on background and experience. Candidates have the option to select which division they would like to be considered for. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a role model for the City’s Customer Service Philosophy– Empathy, Respect, and Problem Solving– and emulate the qualities of a "Five-Tool Player"– Leader, Thinker, Operator, Communicator, and Public Servant.

Educational Requirements
A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. Additional related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
Experience Requirements
Two years of experience supporting enterprise information systems.
Special Requirements
May be required to work any shift in a 24-hour / day, 7-day / week operation on a rotational basis including weekends and holidays. Ability to work overtime.

BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS
As part of their duties, Systems Analyst's may be assigned to work in the Ontario Police Department facilities or will have access to Police Department information systems. As a result, employment in this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a background investigation conducted by the Ontario Police Department. This background investigation will include the passing of a polygraph test. Candidates may be disqualified from further consideration during the background investigation for a variety of reasons including but not limited to : an excessive number of traffic citations and / or collisions; arrests and / or convictions; a history of illegal substance abuse; poor credit history (factors include bankruptcy, foreclosures, liens, repossessions, and recency); or thefts from a previous employer. The following list describes some areas that are covered in the background investigation :
Military service records are subject to verification.
The background investigation considers your management of personal finances (however, being in debt does not automatically disqualify you).
Your criminal, driving, and insurance records are evaluated.
Additionally, Systems Analyst's may be assigned to work at the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) and must possess the ability to pass all background / reference checks, knowledge examinations, as well as aptitude tests necessary to obtain and maintain a security badge to access secured areas of the Ontario International Airport. Applicants must pass a Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA) prior to receiving a security badge.
