Systems Analyst/Programer (Temporary 12-18 Months)

Teck is looking for an experienced Systems Analyst/Programmer Analyst to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Group Leader, Applications and Information, the Systems Analyst/Programmer Analyst will collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to develop and maintain a variety of applications, data pipelines, data models, and reporting solutions that support business objectives.

This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail. British, Columbia.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Collaborate with application owners and stakeholders to develop and maintain applications, pipelines, models, and reporting solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Gather, analyze, and document system and application requirements.
  • Work with vendors, system integrators, and internal teams to install, configure, and support applications and data solutions.
  • Incorporate security requirements into the design, development, and maintenance of applications.
  • Ensure compliance with Information Systems control policies throughout the design, development, and testing lifecycle.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing to validate functionality and performance.
  • Investigate and resolve application and reporting issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or a diploma in a related field with at least 18 months of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Application development and maintenance using Microsoft technologies.
    • Configuration and support of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) application packages.
    • Data engineering and modeling using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and SQL Data Warehouse.
    • Data querying using SQL or Python.
    • Database development and data modeling.
    • Business Intelligence solutions using Power BI, QlikView, Qlik Sense, SSRS, or Excel.
    • CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
  • Understanding of business drivers and the ability to translate them into technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Personable, collaborative, and results-driven team player.

Salary Range: $44.50 to $51.93 /hr
