Our client is looking for a System Administrator for a full time opportunity! This is a hybrid position (3 days a week on-site) in Burnaby, BC.

  • Strong System Admin experience (Windows Server 2025/2022, Active Directory, VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.).
  • General networking experience (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
What & Why:

The Systems Administrator will manage and maintain our client’s IT server infrastructure. This role involves managing and maintaining our virtualized server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and efficiency. Expert in Microsoft Windows Servers environment, VMware, SQL Server & Hyperconverged Infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up, configure, and manage Windows Server environments, primarily focusing on versions 2025 and 2022.
  • Administer and manage Active Directory, including user accounts, permissions, and Group Policy Objects.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automating server tasks, including PowerShell and other scripting languages.
  • Install, configure, and manage VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual machines (VMs) and physical servers.
  • Configure and manage DNS and web servers to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Implement and manage virtual networks and storage solutions.
  • Perform database administration tasks, including backups, restores, and performance tuning.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization, networking, and storage.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement new virtualization solutions.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect server infrastructure and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on virtualization technologies.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Ability to work on-call as needed.

What You Bring To The Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Windows Server administration, with a focus on VMware, Citrix, RDS, and scripting automation.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server 2025 administration.
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator with a focus on server virtualization and VMware.
  • Experience with Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and web server management.
  • Expertise in scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Experience with network and storage management in a virtualized environment.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant certifications such as MCSE, VMware Certified Professional-VCP, or similar are preferred.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
Compensation:
  • The salary range for this position is between $95K - $105K.
