Job description

Reporting to the IT Systems Administration Team Lead, the Cloud Administrator & Solutions Architect will design, implement, and manage Microsoft Azure and Office 365 environments while architecting scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions.

This role combines strategic cloud architecture with hands-on administration, ensuring governance, security, and optimization of cloud services. Key responsibilities include leading cloud initiatives, managing hybrid environments, integrating emerging technologies, and enhancing system performance. The focus will be on cloud strategy modernization projects and system improvements, with additional support for daily administration and ITIL-driven incident resolution.

Accountabilities :

  • Design and architect Microsoft Azure and Office 365 environments ensuring security, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement cloud governance policies, security frameworks, and compliance measures.
  • Plan and execute roadmaps for cloud adoption, modernization, and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, on-prem).
  • Manage and administer Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Exchange Online, and Hybrid Cloud infrastructure.
  • Optimize system performance through health checks, compliance audits, and security assessments.
  • Evaluate and implement new Microsoft technologies to enhance business operations and efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and end-user training on Office 365 applications and cloud services.
  • Ensure ITIL compliance in incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Support and maintain data center operations while ensuring cloud service reliability.
  • Perform on-call duties and travel between data centers as required.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Expertise in designing, architecting, and managing Microsoft 365 solutions, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Intune, Defender, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other M365 applications.
  • Proven experience leading the design and implementation of Azure and AWS cloud environments, including hybrid architectures.
  • Strong background in Identity and Access Management (IAM), including SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and authentication technologies.
  • Deep understanding of backup, retention, and compliance solutions within Microsoft 365 and third-party BaaS platforms like Rubrik, Veeam, and Dell Apex.
  • Hands-on expertise in managing and migrating hybrid MS Exchange environments, troubleshooting email flow, security gateways, and mail firewalls such as Proofpoint, Barracuda, and Fortinet.
  • Proficiency in eDiscovery, legal holds, and compliance audits, ensuring regulatory alignment.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, PowerShell, Ansible for automation and configuration management.
  • Solid foundation in Windows Server and Linux administration supporting cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for DKIM, DMARC, SPF, and DNS configurations to enhance email security and deliverability.
  • Familiarity with core networking services such as DHCP, Active Directory, and related protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards like PIPEDA, PHIPA, GDPR, and HIPAA, ensuring compliance in cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating leadership in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to document and present complex technical solutions.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with ITIL or Agile frameworks is an asset.
  • Relevant certifications preferred, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert.

  • Hours : Currently days, evenings, and night shifts (subject to change based on operational needs).
  • This is a hybrid role: roles that function remotely but require essential regular onsite weekly work.
