A leading company in database solutions, located in Regina, is seeking a skilled Database Support Professional. The role involves providing 24/7 support for Sybase databases, participating in maintenance operations, and collaborating with IT teams to ensure system availability. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in database management and incident response, along with experience in critical support roles.
– Database Support Services: Provide Sybase database support services including configuring and responding to system and performance alerts 24×7. Handle routine maintenance tasks such as patching and responding to database-related service requests across production and non-production environments.
– Collaboration: Work in coordination with SGI’s Database Platform Administrators, System Administrators, and Application Support teams to maintain system availability targets.
– Environment Management: Manage environments detailed as follows:
– Software: Sybase ASE 16 SP4, Replication server 16 SP3, and SAP IQ 16.1.
– Operating Systems: A mix of Oracle Solaris SPARC and Linux servers.
– Tools: Database servers are managed using a mix of ISQL, AQT, and DBArtisan tools.
– Replication: Handle both Database level and Table level replication to ensure High Availability and failover capabilities for disaster recovery scenarios.
– Systems Location: Systems are housed across two data centers to support high availability and disaster recovery scenarios.
– Maintenance: Participate in critical maintenance operations, ensuring all software and systems are current and under support.
– Incident Response: Ability to respond to production-affecting incidents 24×7.
– Critical Support: Experience in supporting production instances that sustain critical business applications
