Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard, Cashier, Registration, Health Records Clerk to join their team in Merritt, B.C.

This position works rotating shifts: 07:30 to 12:00, 08:00 to 12:00, 10:00 to 14:00, 08:00 to 16:00.

What Will You Work On?

Duties

This position performs a variety of clerical duties including operating the switchboard, patient registration, health records, cashier functions, and maintaining supplies, such as:

  • Operating switchboard and public address system and other paging device systems;
  • Receiving and directing patients and visitors;
  • Managing health records – pulling and assembling charts/files, processing corrections, requests for release of information, reviewing charts for accuracy, maintaining statistics and tracking systems;
  • Responding to and monitoring hospital alarms and emergency codes;
  • Maintaining physician on-call/vacation lists and other hospital staff lists;
  • Patient registration;
  • Cashier duties - receiving payments, recording transactions, issuing change and receipts;
  • Maintaining supply inventory by ordering stock and non-stock items;
  • Receiving, checking, and depositing patient valuables;
  • Performing clerical duties such as typing, data entry for admissions/discharges/transfers, mailing, and filing.
