Job Summary

The Team
You'll be joining the established Central Coast - RNE (Bella Coola) team, which serves the communities of Bella Coola, Bella Bella, Klemtu, and Rivers Inlet. This diverse and dedicated group includes four social workers working a 7-on/7-off rotation, two Social Worker Assistants, an Office Manager, and a Team Leader. We're proud of the respectful and collaborative relationships we've built-especially our ongoing partnership with the Nuxalk Nation-as we support children, youth, and families in these communities through meaningful, community-rooted work.

The Role
As a Social Worker Assistant in Bella Coola, you'll play a hands-on role in supporting children, youth, and families by working closely with social workers to assist with access visits, case management tasks, and connecting families to local resources. Your work will have a meaningful impact in the community, including opportunities to collaborate with the Nuxalk Nation and contribute to culturally grounded support in a rural, natural setting. This role offers a unique blend of professional growth, community connection, and the chance to make a real difference while living and working in the stunning Bella Coola Valley.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School Graduation or Equivalent AND one of the following:
    • 2 years of post-secondary studies towards a degree, diploma or certificate in a related human services field or equivalent discipline (Human Services fields or equivalent include Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology and Nursing) PLUS a minimum of 1 year or more of related** work experience; OR
    • 1 year of post-secondary studies towards a degree, diploma or certificate in a related human services field or equivalent discipline (Human Services fields or equivalent include Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology and Nursing) PLUS a minimum of 2 years or more of related** work experience; OR
    • Minimum of 3 years or more of related** work experience.
    • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience using the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer systems.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
