Position Summary

The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one (potentially 2) Sessional Lecturer to teach the following course during the Winter 2026 semester. The delivery method is to be determined based on the Instructor hired.

SW 451 – SW Research
This course focuses on the contributions of research to effective social work practice and social policy. Emphasis is placed on understanding and critical assessing social work research, and on how to employ a variety of quantitative, qualitative, and community-based research methodologies to advance social work knowledge and practice.

Prerequisite: SW 100 and 202; or SW 200.

Semester dates: January 6, 2026 to April 13, 2026 (final exam period: April 16–29, 2026).

Sessional Lecturers teaching courses are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester (actual number of classes is TBD due to delivery method options).

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the course outline, design relevant assignments, evaluate and grade student work, and submit grades by required deadlines.
  • Teach course content that follows the course description, learning objectives, and university guidelines.
  • Deliver 13 lectures throughout the semester (exact number depends on delivery method).
  • Foster a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Provide regular student support during office hours and as needed.
  • Consult with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student-related matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Delivery Method & Schedule

The preferred delivery method is face-to-face in person, with travel between North Battleford and Meadow Lake. Days and times are flexible based on the instructor hired. The instructor may be eligible for travel cost coverage.

The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach lectures, be in the classroom or Zoom 10–15 minutes before each class, and offer regular office hours weekly. Delivery method, days, and times are flexible depending on the instructor hired; course modality to be determined.
