SW 416 – Social Work and Older Adults
This course considers the social work practice, research, legislation and policy with older adults. It will explore issues affecting those living in the community as well as those residing in group or institutional care settings, and the role of family and community supports.

The semester class period is from September 2, 2025 to December 5, 2025 with the final exam period running from December 9 to 220, 2025.


Sessional Lecturers that are teaching remote classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
  • Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester.
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Social Work | University of Regina (uregina.ca) Position Requirements The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work ( MSW )
  • Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
  • Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours This course is offered on Tuesday’s 8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach remote via zoom (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the zoom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
