Job summary

Sutton Place is seeking a Bell Captain for Winter 26/27. This role leads bell staff and ensures guests receive efficient luggage and arrival/departure services, shaping the first and last impressions of the hotel.

The Bell Captain supervises and schedules bell staff, maintains grooming standards, and coordinates VIP guest arrangements, with opportunities for growth within a respected Canadian-owned hospitality group.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada with SIN documentation.
• Hospitality experience preferred (bell attendant or concierge).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

A Bell Captain is a senior member of the hotel’s front-of-house team responsible for supervising bell staff and ensuring guests receive efficient, courteous luggage and arrival/departure services. They play a key role in creating a positive first and last impression of the hotel.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
• Must be eligible to work in Canada - can provide SIN documentation
• Previous experience in hospitality (bell attendant or concierge experience preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques
• Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required.
• Exceptional conflict resolution, and objection handling skills
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
• Physical ability to lift heavy luggage.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to work different shift Morning and Evening including working on weekends and public holidays

Job duties

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival and departure
• Assist with luggage handling and storage
• Escort guests to rooms and explain room features
• Provide information about hotel services, amenities, and local attractions
• Arrange transportation (taxis, shuttle transfers coordination)
• Supervise and schedule bell staff
• Assign duties and monitor performance
• Ensure staff grooming and uniform standards are maintained
• Maintain records of luggage movement
• Report maintenance issues in lobby areas
• Assist with VIP guest arrangements
• Coordinate group arrivals and departures
• Maintain luggage storage area and tagging system
• Handle guest requests promptly
• Manage lost-and-found items according to hotel policy
