Who we need

Reporting to the Senior Director, Sustainability & Risk Management, we are hiring a Sustainable Materials Manager to lead our efforts in integrating environmentally responsible materials and production methods across our products and solutions globally. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to research, test, and implement sustainable materials, ensuring they meet our quality, performance, and cost requirements. This is a key role shaping our sustainability strategy by optimizing material selection, improving circular economy initiatives, and driving sustainable production practices.

This is a hybrid role working a minimum of three days a week onsite at our head office.

What’s in it for you

Influence and impact. You will lead the integration of sustainable materials into our design, sourcing, and manufacturing processes, directly reducing our environmental footprint while maintaining quality standards. Working with teams across Procurement, Product Development, Quality, and Operations, you will shape a sustainability program that spans industries and client groups worldwide.

A award-winning team and industry recognition. You will be part of a company recognized globally for its sustainability leadership, including EcoVadis Gold status and the Best of Sustainable Beauty Award from L’Oréal, contributing to initiatives that set industry benchmarks.

Innovation and leadership. You will drive the adoption of cutting-edge sustainable materials and production methods, positioning yourself as a key player in advancing eco-conscious manufacturing.

In this role, you will focus on:
  • Leading sustainability initiatives. You will act as the organization’s subject matter expert on sustainable materials and production methods, ensuring best practices are applied across our products and solutions.
  • Driving material trials and approvals. You will lead and document product trials for new materials, engaging global stakeholders while developing and implementing a materials review and approval process.
  • Researching and evaluating materials. You will work with procurement and quality teams to assess new and alternative materials for integration into our production processes, products, and services.
  • Optimizing material management. You will develop, implement, and manage a sustainable materials database and associated tools, such as a materials catalog, to support organization-wide adoption.
  • Improving production processes. You will collaborate with production teams to investigate and implement sustainable manufacturing methods that drive efficiency and environmental responsibility.
  • Advancing circular economy practices. You will work cross-functionally with material suppliers, recycling partners, and production teams to implement closed-loop strategies and reduce waste.
  • Educating and training stakeholders. You will coordinate and deliver training sessions for internal teams on sustainable materials and production processes relevant to Array’s products and services.
  • Ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. You will follow all policies and procedures, supporting continuous improvement, Health & Safety initiatives, and adherence to the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations.
You have:
  • The experience. You have a background in Project Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, Procurement, or Sustainability, with direct experience in materials management, supply chain, or sustainable product development. You have in-depth knowledge of sustainable materials, life cycle assessment, and eco-design principles. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient in materials databases, inventory management systems, and data analysis tools. Your ability to research, evaluate, and implement new materials ensures informed decision-making that balances sustainability with production feasibility. You are familiar with global sustainability standards, certifications (e.g., EcoVadis, LEED, FSC), and compliance requirements.
  • The problem-solving and strategic mindset. You thrive on analyzing challenges, researching solutions, and implementing sustainable innovations. You understand how sustainability fits into business operations, balancing environmental goals with cost, feasibility, and market demands to drive meaningful impact.
  • The execution focus. You have a proven ability to drive sustainability initiatives from concept to implementation, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations while ensuring the practical adoption of sustainable practices.
  • The organizational skills. You can manage multiple projects, track materials data, and maintain structured documentation to support material trials, approvals, and reporting. Your attention to detail ensures accuracy and consistency in materials management.
  • The interpersonal and presentation skills. You have strong communication skills and can confidently present research, recommendations, and sustainability strategies to internal stakeholders and external partners. You excel at building relationships and collaborating across cross-functional global teams.
  • The flexibility. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You can adapt to new technologies, industry trends, and shifting priorities while maintaining a proactive approach to sustainability. You are open to occasional travel for supplier visits, material assessments, or industry conferences.
What you can expect from the interview process:
  • A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor discussing your interest in the role, the team’s culture and how you will make an impact.
  • An in-person technical interview with the Sr. Director, Sustainability & Risk Management. You will be able to share further information on your experience and interest in Array and ask additional questions about the role and team.
  • A final in-person interview with the Sr. Director, Sustainability & Risk Management, HR and members of the Sustainability team. It is a chance to ask any final questions about the team and the company.
