Job description

We are seeking a Queen's University student interested in sustainability for a part-time position with Hospitality Services at Aramark Canada. The successful candidate will collaborate directly with the Resident District Manager and Queen's Wellness and Sustainability Manager on specific projects and events within campus food service locations. The role involves providing recommendations based on student feedback and assisting in implementing best practices.

This part-time position begins this fall semester, with flexible shifts that may include evenings and weekends. Candidates must be available during peak lunch and dinner hours at dining halls and retail locations, with shifts typically lasting 3-4 hours.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assist in creating marketing content (e.g., social media videos) to educate students on sustainable practices in residence dining and retail operations, including initiatives like GOOD TO GO and reusable cup programs, and reducing food waste.
  2. Engage with various platforms to communicate the benefits of sustainable practices to students.
  3. Educate students on proper waste sorting and encourage strategies to minimize food waste.
  4. Assist in executing and promoting the 'Good to Go' program in retail locations.
  5. Share information on waste reduction and resource conservation efforts.
  6. Engage with students twice weekly to discuss sustainability initiatives.
  7. Gather and report feedback from the campus community to evaluate concerns and positive feedback.
  8. Conduct waste audits during specific meal periods to assess post-consumer waste, documenting behavioral patterns and changes.
  9. Support the implementation of sustainability programs aligned with the goals of Housing & Ancillary Services and the University.
  10. Complete administrative tasks such as data collection, report filing, and other assigned duties.

  • Knowledge of Queen's University food service programs and facilities.
  • Experience in hospitality or customer service is a plus.

This role may involve physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing. Uniforms and/or PPE may be required.

Education

High School Diploma required.
