Working as part of the Peel Employment Services team, the Job Action Club (JAC) assists low income individuals residing in Mississauga/Brampton, who are un-employed or underemployed in an active job search program that includes pre-employment development, personalized job search action plans, motivation and work readiness, to find sustainable employment. As a Facilitator/Coach, you will support the Employment Services team with outreach/marketing, recruiting and screening applicants for the program. You will facilitate workshops and group job search activities, provide one on one support and advocacy for clients, and conduct and support the execution of job search action plans through individual coaching, connections with employers, and encouraging participants to apply for employment opportunities ensuring detailed case management and tracking of job search activities (applications, informational interviews, interviews and post interview follow up.).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Facilitator/Coach will develop and deliver job search workshops to low-income program participants and provide support for conducting a successful and active job search that negates under-employment
- Recruit clients to participate in Job Action Club (JAC) including conducting information sessions, advertising campaigns and extensive outreach
- Provided one-on-one support/coaching and advocacy for participants
- Conduct/facilitate active job search activities in a group environment- this includes assisting clients to develop a list of target companies and job opportunities that they are interested in, support active job search applications, conduct informational interviews, interview support and post interview follow up
- Collaborate with clients to develop and execute a step-by-step action plan to assist in reaching their employment goals
- Assist to develop, plan and adjust active job search programming for the project as needed
- Conduct outreach to employers to identify opportunities that match the employment goals of participants
- Maintain documentation/case management as required including data entry in CRM/Database
- Conduct follow up activities, statistical reporting for the project activity goals, and create a plan to meet objectives
- Write reports as required by funder (2 times per year)
- Maintaining relationships with community stakeholder and partners
- Other project activities as assigned that promote an active job search for the participants
- Must be able to travel between all four Achev Peel locations (Malton, Mississauga, Brampton East and Brampton South) and other areas of GTA
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree or diploma (preference in social services or relevant work experience)
- Previous experience working with Ontario Works recipients, low income and clients with multiple barriers or experiencing under-employment
- Must have direct experience facilitating workshops and group job search activities and employment/career coaching
- Ability to organize, co-ordinate, and lead group workshops and activities and motivate individual job seekers to find employment
- Excellent problem solving and de-escalation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with project team, community partners, and clients
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with community partners and stakeholders
- Strong marketing, communication and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of equity and diversity issues and their implications in the workplace
- Knowledge of community resources in the Peel and surrounding regions
- Strong computer skills in Internet, MS Office Suite, and CRM databases
- Access to a vehicle is required
