KITANO SUSHI in Sarnia, ON is seeking a self-motivated Cook with good interpersonal skills for full-time, permanent employment. The role involves preparing meals, overseeing kitchen operations, training staff, maintaining hygiene, and keeping inventory.

Schedule includes Day, Evening and Weekend shifts; wage is $16.00 hourly for 40 hours per week. Ideal candidate has at least 1–2 years experience, fluent English, ability to follow recipes, work under pressure, and contribute to menu planning.

Qualifications

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate should have minimum qualification of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• The ideal candidate should have a minimum 1 to 2 years of working experience in similar industry.
• The candidate must be able to use slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc.
• The candidate should be a good team player with enough interpersonal and judge-mental skills.
• The candidate should have good decision making skills.
• The candidate should have sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques
• The candidate should have good understanding of food hygiene.
• The candidate should have proven food preparation and food handling experience.
• The candidate must have the ability to follow standardized recipes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect kitchens and food service areas.
• Prepare delicious meals for customers.
• Oversee kitchen operations.
• Keep kitchen and work areas clean.
• Train staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling.
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
• Prepare and cook meals and individual dishes.
• Prepare dishes for customers with allergies or intolerances.
• Plan menus, determine portion sizes, estimate requirements and costs, and monitor supplies.
• Ensure high quality and presentation of all dishes.
• Arrange and garnish dishes.
• Weigh, measure, and prepare ingredients according to recipes.
• Ensure deliveries are received and handled efficiently.
• Create new dishes monthly and modify recipes per customer needs.
