Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a Surveyor to join the Underground Operations team at the Upper Beaver Gold Project in Dobie, ON. You will measure and record mine progression, translate data into precise mining plans, and uphold safety and environmental standards.

Schedule: 40 hours per week with 4-3 or 5-2 rotations. Requires a college degree in mining/geomatics and at least 1 year surveying experience; underground mining experience is an asset.

Qualifications

  • College degree in mining, civil engineering, surveying, or geomatics.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in surveying.
  • Underground mining experience is considered an asset.
  • Basic Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core or equivalent is an asset.
  • Expertise with survey equipment (total station, CMS, CALS, Drone & rover, Lidar, Gyro).
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerBI, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and experience with Deswik software is considered an asset.
  • Ventilation, ground control and/or planning experience is considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team structure.
  • Works well in fast-paced environment.
  • Interest and/or experience in mine rescue is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Install laser stations and update surveys for all development headings underground, transferring data to mining plans promptly.
  • Bi-monthly reconciliation of mine-wide development meters and volume excavated, classed as operation or capital expenditure.
  • Conduct regular void scan surveys of production stops to monitor status with CMS/CALS, Lidar, UG Drone.
  • Hole collar pick-up, breakthrough & Gyroscopic surveys of long-hole production drilling to aid blast design.
  • Develop and contribute to standardized surveying procedures.
  • Build and maintain clean 3D solids of underground workings.
  • Perform ventilation readings when required.
  • Perform ground control inspections when required.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Senior Mine Technician, the surveyor will be part of the Engineering Department - Underground Operations. You will primarily be involved in the accurate measurement and recording of the progression of mine workings, further ensuring the recorded information is translated into mining plans in a clear and timely manner. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Install laser stations and complete regular survey updates for all development headings underground. Ensure all said information is transferred onto the appropriate mining plans and made available to the end user(s) in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Produce a bi-monthly reconciliation of the mine-wide development meters and associated volume excavated from the underground workings, attributing each reconciled meter as either an operation or capital expenditure;
  • Complete regular void scan surveys of the production stops in various stages of the stope cycle in order to monitor production status, using the available technology (CMS/CALS, Lidar, UG Drone);
  • Hole collar pick-up, breakthrough & Gyroscopic surveys of long-hole production drilling activities to assist drill & blast technicians with stope blast design & timing;
  • Develop and contribute to the development of standardized work procedures of surveying activities;
  • Building and maintaining clean 3D solids of underground workings in a timely manner;
  • Perform ventilation readings when required;
  • Perform ground control inspections when required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • College degree in mining, civil engineering, surveying, or geomatics;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in surveying;
