Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Survey Party Chief to ensure accuracy in control lines, elevations, contours and land features, guiding field crews and planners. You will perform topographic and cross-section surveys and support project estimates with precise measurements.

Applicants should have a HS diploma, LSIT preferred, 3+ years of survey experience, and strong leadership and communication skills on project sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED required; Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in survey and land mapping required.
• LSIT Certification and Valid Driver's License preferred.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to train staff on a project site.
• Developing knowledge of topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and cost projections.
• Strong communication with engineering teams and management on sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and material installation.
• Assist in evaluating potential dimensions and field problems.
• Perform layout work as directed by survey manager.
• Provide checking of as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
• Carry out topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and payment quantities.
• Assist with quantity calculations as required.

Overview

Are you a detail-oriented surveyor with knowledge of topographic and cross-section surveys? As a Survey Party Chief, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accuracy and precision in every aspect of our work. Your expertise in control lines, elevations, contours, and land features will guide project management and work crews, enabling them to execute their tasks with confidence. Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to deliver technical insights that directly impact project success.

What you will be doing

• Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by field staff.
• Assist in the evaluation of potential dimensions and other field problems.
• Perform layout work competently and accurately as specified by survey manager.
• Provide checking of as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
• Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
• Assist with conducting quantity calculations as required.

What we are looking for

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related preferred.
• 3+ years' experience in survey and land mapping required.
• License Surveyor In Training (LSIT) Certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Proven leadership skills.
• Ability to train and direct staff on a project site.
