Job summary

Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic is seeking a dedicated Surgical Medical Assistant to support physicians during procedures and coordinate surgical workflows across multiple locations in the Greater Raleigh Area.

The role entails preparing patients pre- and post-operation, managing case schedules, and ensuring all pre-op requirements are completed. Successful candidates will have 2+ years in a surgical setting and a Medical Assistant certification.

Qualifications

• Certification as Medical Assistant is required.
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience, preferably in surgical/orthopaedic settings.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; reliable under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with setup for exams and procedures.
• Coordinate surgical cases, scheduling, and pre-op requirements.
• Ensure pre-op clearances, labs, imaging, and documentation are complete before surgery dates.
• Communicate with patients about preparation, scheduling and follow-up care.
• Document patient messages and clinical orders accurately and timely.
• Apply casts/splints and perform wound care under supervision.
• Educate patients on post-operative care and cast maintenance.
• Order and manage lab tests and specimens.
• Maintain clean and stocked clinical areas.
• Support prescription refill workflows and document in records.
